Description

Laura Jefferies, once Chief of Detectives at the Decatur Police Department, is now Special Assistant to the Attorney General for the state of Georgia. Tasked with leading a special task force, she reopens cold cases tied to a criminal enterprise left behind by the ‘STRANGER.’ But in this new political and investigative role, Laura must navigate bureaucracy, betrayal, and a resurgent underworld seeking to reclaim lost power. The ghosts of her past cases aren’t done with her yet, and some enemies don’t stay buried. In her quest to find the freedom she sought, she discovers that it is difficult to attain and will require all that she has to achieve her goal.

With two arch-enemies, Elise Merrin, aka the stranger, and Celeste Vaughn, another mastermind of the underworld, forge a fight to keep Laura at bay.  Laura has her hands full trying to juggle her responsibilities as Special Assistant, and still manage to maintain her integrity no matter the cost.
