Protecting what’s yours and discovering how to maintain that reality is the new vision that men must now be engaged to uphold. Turning our heads, closing our eyes, numbing our ability to listen can exist no more. Therefore, we must talk less and listen more for clarity because when thoughts are clear, reasoning and decision-making are more comfortable.
This discussion between men must become one of habit and reflection as an expansion of thought. Men must again rise and become a part of a change in attitude, followed by behavioral differences. For this to happen, men must see themselves differently by righting the wrongs in their lives. The building blocks to all manly platforms begin with each of you accepting that change is necessary, and through the understanding of self, you can start to understand others.
The path now focuses on being seen positively and shut down these myths of black men being bad husbands and, even worse, fathers. With the overwhelming arrests of young black men over the years, the numbers are incredibly high.
These same men spend years of their lives behind bars and living within a system created to demoralize and humiliate. They learn no skills to help them survive once they leave prison. Once freed, they can only bring to the streets what they learned in prison, survival. However, more than surviving, many young men succumb to a life of aberrant behavior as they become sexually active with one another. Truly an unhealthy environment, young black men become worse than they were when they first arrived.
