Chasing the Carrot

Posted on 2 minute read

The concept of chasing the carrot means that the human eye is only fixed on the immediate goal. Once we entertain one-sided views, the bigger picture is never seen as a possible achievement. This tunnel vision involves all things of merit when the forest, with all its vastness, is missed for the trees. In our lives, focusing on the insignificant is equivalent to what is relative and worthy of pursuit. How we measure what’s important doesn’t seem to get the attention necessary to create change. Chasing the carrot, you see nothing and feel nothing other tchasing the carrothan the object of your pursuit. So, it’s not always about failures, but it could be about finding a million ways why something won’t work for you.

More often than not, I tell my clients that their stages of interest must be long-reaching. It broadens their perspectives and shapes a clearer image of themselves to cover as many layers of interest as humanly possible. There should be no shame in pursuing mind expansion if that expansion leads to self-awareness. The idea of the eye on the carrot speaks to relationships and how the true meaning of a viable, committed connection with another focuses less on the physical and more on the person’s embodiment. What fails more quickly is when the conversation arises about lasting associations. When many chase the same carrot, chaos is followed by division. Spreading yourself too thin is the same as too little cement applied to bricks. As I end this article, the one clear exception to chasing the carrot can be used as the reverse of this article title, and that would be in today’s climate of change and the abnormal, is to focus on peace and the end of so much hatred.
