I learned early in life that being comfortable with who I was and what I was doing was no longer my challenge. My comfort levels were red flags alerting me that it was time to make changes with my varied successes. As a baby-boomer, it was customary to hold a job until retirement, but we didn’t realize that those 20-30 years on any job cemented you into that structure of lost identity. Losing your character has, for many, fragmented their lives. Those people become lost and swept up into a life vacuum never to be found and perhaps losing those gifts that were innate to your character and skill set that becomes your signature and your post-identity.
It’s essential to know as early as possible that the job you spend time on will render your growth opportunities. If it doesn’t, you need to find other alternatives that will allow that growth in another place and at another time by enhancing those varied skill-sets through academia, and preferably, this new technology. It is the world of technology that offers challenges and allows for those changes. Even now, living in my golden years, I decided to enter this high tech school by learning web design at a local college. You see, I never could except ‘not knowing,’ and the only thing that would enable that missing link was my reinvention. When you reinvent, you stay current and relative. Reinvention places you in a select category as someone to know and admire. Staying current slows aging that moves you forward beyond measure. Having that ability to speak the language of many in various fields of vocation highlights the essence of your existence. It is the essence of you that permeates mind, body, and soul and births your new beginning.
