Muting the Idea of Slavery

Posted on 2 minute read

Muting the slave has always been in the slave owner’s best interest because the condemned masses’ silencing allows for control and dominance. However, if controlling and domination become the fuel that generates fear, this is the part that virtually drives me to continue my quest for success and beyond. With each forging generation revolving around people of color, we have managed to survive and thrive. Our irreversible courage to win and not succumb to the pressures served to us, and we find a way out of no way. Having been beat down, disrespected, shamed, and killed, our spirits soar, and our pride is incomparable. Those who feel the need to control and dominate other human beings are the same people who question their significance and insecurities, but they will NEVER admit it.

When the world is occupied by blatant refusals to honor what’s right and sacred under the laws of basic human decency, the world as we know it will continue to crumble. It now beckons the rationale of how women, in my opinion, are the backbones of this country. They nurture, educate, support, and uplift men’s supporting roles. This strength of women I have patterned my life that began with my mother. It was her tenacity and her discipline that continue to give me hope. The silencing of the slave mentality, which many are trying to rebirth, will never happen if resilience and historical awareness are maintained and applied. It will be my ‘woman influence’ that will guide me during these difficult times. No power can unravel the exercise of truth. The ‘ole slave’ singing and dancing is now seen as the evolution to speak out and act. The fight is now ‘center stage’ where our oppressors’ plan to fight this dirty battle will be thwarted by hitting back. If anyone is comfortable with oppression, then you are indeed my oppressor. I will not be quieted until my peace of mind is restored, my liberty bridged, and my faith in democracy finds a more robust platform.
