Racism vs. Reality

Posted on 2 minute read

I often reflect on my life, and what penetrates my mind’s core most is the idea of racism and the realities of what is essential. You see, when your mind’s eye focuses on the real prize, nothing else should matter. Although, held within sight of racism and hatred of epic proportions is fear, control, and greed. The fear of losing ground, coupled with the fear of losing control, forces those who seek this domination to render their anxiety measures to regain that control.

My most gratifying moments were spent in a war. You see, action forces people to band together because we need one another. My back becomes your back, where there is no time for bias, hatred, or prejudice of any kind. When this occurred for me, what was common practice became uncommon. Racial interaction was complete due to all the common ground witnessed and needed. When that changed and the war was over, my civic involvement became one of mystery and separatism, and I no longer felt safe even until this very day.

To reign supreme.

The presidential election of 2016 ended the reign of one of our greatest presidents, Barack Obama. His leadership, his vision, and his resilience have, in my estimation, become exemplary. For me, he has written the book on how to be presidential and that ultimate statesman. His character was impeccable, and his legacy was framed as majestic. To not see this man as unique labels, these naysayers as bigots. That loss of control is a stab in the heart, and that foothold is no longer a solid mass of bleeding rotten flesh.

I can readily understand when your house begins to erode from the inside out. What keeps that horse stable is the inner mechanisms that preserve and protect. In hindsight, this erosion will worsen, but the tenets of fair and just play will prevail once this country and its people join hands by working together. Why must it take some disaster that plagues everyone before they and we get it? This world will not survive as it should until the radical minds of separatism mount their charge to freedom.
