My long marriage as a baby-boomer has taught me the significance of duplicating the lessons learned from my parents. Their generation, embodied by a strong work ethic, taught me that nothing of worth comes easy. This explanation comes with an understanding that new ideas or a different way of thinking should not violate any means to enhance thinking capabilities. However, it should still reinforce those core values that are the nucleus of all things significant.
Being the last generation to provide a sound indoctrination into the ways of life for those younger, Boomers must hold the reins that lead and guide. If those generations that follow don’t plan to adapt and change old views and add newer ideas, who will?
Because baby boomers are taking on ageism, they have become the vanguards to oversee a generation of younger people, but only if they can listen and practice what they see and how they think. As a generation of vanguards, baby boomers must make this last run a productive advantage that instills future leaders for the following generations.
This generational crunch we are all experiencing is headed for deeper divides unless we all can come together. One can form thousands, and thousands can create millions who subscribe to changing the racial curve within society and the country. We cannot continue on this path of hope without delivering a message of our own. The old South cannot return without a fight forged by those of us who remain. We can no longer be victims of a system that hates so defiantly and is void of compassion and justice. The truth and status of people of color have come down to meeting fire with fire.
Now, this injustice’s effects must be felt on the other side of this racial divide before that side feels the same pain. The cry for peace must resonate through every living human being, and when this happens, racial instability can be restored, and a country can begin to heal. But understand, peace is not what our oppressors want, but what they want is a complete end to a race that has lasted too long!
