This picture is a small reflection of young but seasoned black leaders’ enormous talent. With the focus on S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) academics, these leaders come from varied backgrounds who have made their marks in education, finance, and entrepreneurship. These leaders have come together under one roof, having operated under its CEO/Founder’s capable leadership. Dr. G. Avi Arrington, now deceased, was never able to fulfill his dream. For quite some time, his vision has been delivering new learning concepts born by modern technology. ‘Green Energy’ and all of Technology is, undoubtedly, the latest trend for our youth and young adults who have a chance to find a career and form alliances that can last forever.
My involvement in this movement is to give back and pass on what I have learned over the years. The idea, or the concept of growing through the partnership, is the epitome of what development means. The heartbeat of any endeavor is the completion of that dream. Imagine waking up, and the acceptance of your reality fulfilled your plans. To live with purpose is to realize that you’re not living without purpose. This Urban Technical Institute will be the ‘facelift’ that the Chicago-land area has been waiting for for far too long. To be a part of this initiative and this socio-economic sphere is no less than perfect. This involvement, partnered by another of my professional affiliations with (MKI) or the Mind Kapital Institute, whose CEO/Founder, Dr. Michele Banks, had a vision of her own and recruited me to mix mental and spiritual, and physical development. The new location, which was in the heart of ‘Brownsville’ at 3617 S. State, housed a dramatic movement that would have transcended the current learning methods. Dr. Avi’s dream will continue through my determination to perform my due diligence by picking up in some small way what Dr. Avi began. My journey continues.
