PTSD and Therapy

The advice I personally and professionally give comes from my life experiences. Having been in therapy for the past ten years under the Veterans Administration’s watchful eye has given me a chance to live my best life. PTSD  incapsulates any major trauma and becomes an emotional roller-coaster for all who suffer from this condition. The open combat recalls the nail-biting nightmares, which label people with PTSD as mentally unstable to the emotional upheavals. Yet, through this unsightly label of instability, combat veterans labor tirelessly to become better than the day before because healing is long and coming and requires an endless effort to become mentally whole again. Were it not for my counseling and the joining alliances between other veterans, I don’t know where I might be today.

This picture illustrates what teamwork and companionship represent. It is a picture that I miss being a part of because the trusting interaction has never happened since. I miss the days of one mind, one spirit, and one purpose. If truth and loyalty existed in today’s world, this same world would be a better place.
