Turning the Corner

The moment I feel too confident is the exact moment I begin to reflect on my life. For the past 40 plus years, I have managed to ‘turn the corner’ to find new ways to improve personally and professionally. My ability to continue to reflect reminds me that there is much more to do, and there’s much more that I can do. To become complacent would be when I’ve given up, and therein have NO desire to seek anything. Therefore, it is determined that my dreams are the language of my soul! I MUST dream and ACTIVELY pursue my dreams! Through my thoughts, I have learned to set goals, goals that are weighed and examined. By examining my goals, I determine the best-suited purposes that are achievable for me. If I think too high, beyond the scope of my talents and abilities, I have now set myself up for failure. Therefore, I have turned the corner to my reality.

I recently decided to determine my purpose and what I discovered is that my mission must be defined clearly. Based on my level of life maturity, my age had to be reexamined to punctuate my personal needs to place myself in a position to help others find their purpose in life. However, there are finite examples to make this happen. So, I set out to ‘design’ a plan that would give me direction. Here are those steps that I have implemented because I now know that I am already spiritual, so I  must now allow my spirituality to unfold. Through my spirituality, I also know that I must SERVE because it is through serving I have found my peace.

PERSONAL:

1. My physical and spiritual well-being is a must;
2. Exercise and sound eating habits are critical; EAT MORE PLANT-BASED FOODS;
3. My constant pursuit of reading, understanding, and practicing the teachings of the bible are paramount;
4. I must apply those biblical teachings by drafting them into my own life;
5. I must challenge myself often;
6. I must limit the obsessiveness of ego;
7. I must continue to get to know ME better;
8. My life, to be transparent, must have a high level of TRUTH;
9. I must not become critical or judgmental of others;
10. I must NOT be afraid to learn from others if they have something to contribute;
11. To limit my learning, I stifle my growth; therefore, I must place myself in an atmosphere of continued education;
12. Selfish motives are a breeding ground for failure;
13. Discover added means to increase my financial portfolio.
14. CONTINUE TO SERVE

POST RETIREMENT PRACTICES:

1. Continue to write and lecture.
2. Continue to surround me with like-minded people.
3. Expand on the CIE (Chicago Innovative Exchange) initiative through the University of Chicago
4. Broaden my speaking and writing topic platforms
5. Book more seminars and workshops
6. Know my truth
7. Honor my truth

If I can continue to practice what I’ve learned and then administer those lessons to others, fulfilling lives lost and void of hope can be minimized. My on-going pursuit of continuing my growth is my advantage because I recognize the need to survive at a high level. Surviving is the key to all, and if those survival skills are lost or neglected, it only brings devastation, regret, and ultimate peril.

Make your mark by this growth continuation and set the goals you once made for yourself. Getting older is inevitable, but allowing that to be an excuse is a travesty.
