The hands of a nation are sadly losing their grip. A government that was once the pillar of strength has lost its luster around the world. Once revered, this country is no longer the world’s envy and instead has become a mockery. As a proud American, I am still optimistic. I believe that my America will rise again despite the deceit and corruption at the hands of a want-to-be dictator. How can a large percentage of this country support a man who seeks only to control, manipulate, and deceive? How can these supporters refer to themselves as Christians when they don’t know the first thing about decency and respecting others’ rights? How can these same people wreak so much hatred and not expect those persecuted for fighting back the only way they know-how and still carry a smile?

For me, my life is filled with challenges, disappointments, and loss, but yet I continue to seek solace within the depths of my soul. As I watch the world news too often, I see the end of a nation destined to destroy itself. This country has come of age to repeat the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, a biblical event that shames me to witness this same behavior today. This event highlighted in the book of Genesis, which means the beginning, forces me to wonder if this book has become our book of revelation. An evolving time where our long history is now our painful reality. What will become of the world we now merely exist in that reveals each day how difficult it is to cope? The injustice, the hate, envy, and jealousy are now all-encompassing, formulating an exaggerated sense of greed. So you say, “One day at a time. and this too shall pass.” The question now becomes when, and when the now of our existence becomes the idea of never?
