Surely you would agree that everyone prefers a relationship built on trust and commitment. You could further agree that cultivating a relationship before committing to a marriage is the best-placed motivator to a long-term partnership. At the beginning of that relationship, the parties take an oath and recite vows that solidify the marriage with honest intent. This intention to partner sets goals to be accomplished as one in concert with the other and compromised by nothing and no one. These are basic examples of how a relationship begins and moves to make a marriage work with your mate.

The core or the central theme to anything begins with you building on that premise and not back-sliding on the promise to continue building together. Where I admit that the man in most relationships drops the ball and forces his woman to think and subsequently act differently is the beginning of a failed marriage and a slap in the face on what brought you together in the front. Dedicating your life to someone is a huge responsibility and requires even more discipline to make the partnership last. What’s even more critical to this bonding of souls is to know yourself before entering a relationship that you’re not ready to claim. As I have conducted therapy sessions for would-be partnerships/marriages, I meet with each individual to discuss motives, intentions, and what sacrifice truly means. If you don’t know these things about yourself, how can a marriage survive?
My clients are drilled by asking hard questions that are simplistic. To simplify why anyone enters a relationship and ultimately marries into that relationship is one of the main ingredients of sincerity. If you don’t know who you are and you’re not willing to find out, your relationship and a pending marriage will never meet completion. Therefore, marriage is more than sex with convenience. It’s more than feeling secure and adding an income. It’s more to a marriage than merely saying you love someone and not being in love with yourself. You cannot expect your would-be partner to provide all, and you not contribute anything of measure. If this is not your INTENTION, you’re not ready.
