The sanctity of the family is a thing of the past. The loyalty of friendships left as the rise of envy and hatred found its way into our lives. These so-called relationships are the bookmarks to rumor, scandal, and out-right lies. Those people who are closer to you use that advantage to capture your information and then use it against you. From what I’ve experienced, bloodlines are not enough to carry out what love should look reflect. It’s not enough to place your trust or share your deepest secrets, and it’s not enough to avoid crying over laughter. When the simplest movements through life are not met by respect, there is nothing to embrace nor place pride.
This absolute reality hurts me to my core. Seeing and experiencing these behaviors and people’s interactions simultaneously is humbling and warning. Humbling in that what you see on the outside is not going on internally. Informing in that the trust is gone, and the faith of its return is far-reaching.
Betrayal is a horrible word that speaks solely to distrust and the absence of loyalty. Entrusting your life and reputation and leaving that in the hands of a family member or close friend can be moral suicide. Can we blame this generational gap adjoined by this modern era of technology? I reserve the right to disagree vehemently, but I hold close this idea of what and who is real.
