Live to ride! I’ve been riding a bike for over forty years. I remember those times that I spent alone on the private, back roads that brought me so much solace. In peaceful times, I always sought to get in touch with myself—Times when I could reflect and plan were tools at my disposal that made me feel whole. Riding free down the highway with the wind in my face and not a care in the world are the times I longed for all my life. This longing propelled me to investigate the many options that I had and ensure my rightful place in society.
This $30,000 machine I purchased when I retired was a present to myself. Why? Because I deserved it. I have worked all of my adult life, but not without sacrifice. However, through sacrifice, my rewards were plentiful. I dressed this bike with the most exquisite accessories and added my flair, making it quite special. From award-winning trophies and write-ups to personal ‘fist-bumping,’ this bike was one to behold as I became one with my machine.
Taking pride in anything attached to me taught me the importance of respect, honor for this rugged machine, and the praise I received from other riders on different bikes. But all in all, motorcycling brought adventure and much to look forward to when that time came to depend on something of merit. Plans for trips or just meeting for a ‘run’ were an enormous step-up. Everything about me was worth defining my truth and listing my endeavors as purposeful. Find the space that brings you peace because, without order, there will always be confusion.
