[The Interview] of 2020, and one that will travel the test of time, involved Gayle King (a close and long time friend to Oprah Winfrey) has made a huge moral mistake by choosing to slander Kobe Bryant, a man of color and principle, and a virtual icon. As Gayle King interviewed Lisa Leslie, a famous basketball player of the Women’s Basketball League, Gayle proceeded to ask questions of a damaging nature about the equally famous Kobe Bryant. The latter played for the LA Lakers for 20 years and retired in 2016. These questions were untimely and thoughtless that created a frenzy across the globe from those who admired and respected ‘Kobe’ the man.
These inflammatory questions were demeaning to the legacy of ‘Kobe’ and his family’s rest and were not deserving. His merits on and off the court were no less than stellar, where his life contributions over basketball were indeed exemplary. It seems that black media personalities such as Gayle King, Oprah Winfrey, Tavist Smiley, and Dr. Cornell West seem to embrace the notion of slandering black male super-stars to the benefit of ratings, followed by more money and notoriety. Why do these celebrities, who have NO money worries and can have anything they want, take the road of bashing men over defending them is beyond me? Is it possible to fear backlash from white, influential white males, or is it merely because they can and do? It is no secret that white influence is the personification of ghastly deeds that smother black males’ success by mysterious deaths or by a legion of bad press and public manipulation. Whatever the reason, black males have a difficult time making it, and once they do, it’s also tricky maintaining that which they have built.
When there are more than enough ‘white journalist’ who can assume that role and on many instances has done just that over the years. Now, they can sit idly by and watch blacks take down other blacks and arrive at the same result. As you view these clips, you will form your conclusions and determine for yourselves how important it is to unify and be supportive as some celebrities of color who have had their challenges and opened themselves up to public scrutiny don’t need another black person to bring them down and hang them by their testicles. To wonder why blacks can’t unite has been the question for years, and it seems we can’t get that together. For any other news network to challenge Oprah Winfrey’s likes, it could be a career mistake, given the wealth and influence of Ms. Winfrey. Instead of seeking a time slot on a news network, these people of power should appeal to their color base unless they have lost their own color identity. Oprah has her system, so why put the pressure on someone else to carry her message of support. Please do the right thing when dealing with our folk. If there is nothing to say that will sway a consensus of determining guilt, it’s best to say nothing at all.<!–
The lesson we should take from ‘whites’ on all levels is that they stick together no matter what the call. Wrong or right, whites will lie, cheat, steal, and even kill to protect their own, which is why I elected to write this article. I am not a celebrity, nor am I a person of wealth, but who I am is a man of color that respects his people and frowns on those who don’t as they seek levels of deceit and corruption. The division or the ploy to separate people of color has always been the method of whites to quietly encourage all blacks to turn on one another and then sitting back, awaiting the backlash that always comes. Whites have rallied around, stepping back to some extent and watch us tear each other apart. A sad reality, but one of truth and misguided values carried down from generations to hold up the idea of brainwashing and the ‘crab mentality’ even in the aftermath of success. In other words, I got mine, and I NEVER want you to get yours, so when I see your climb, I’ll be behind you, pulling at your legs.
After this article was written, no attempt was taken to pull back these video clips. The likeness of CBS and all of the other networks are laughing in the boardrooms and meeting halls watching the moral lynching of black male celebrities by other black female journalists. The castration of the black male by black women will continue that plays into the hands of whites to destroy the black family, and all that they could stand for is an integral part of our black culture.
