Then vs. Now

Posted on 2 minute read

Between then and now, the struggles continue. Back then, my mental development was not intact, yet now, that same development has brought me to this stage in life where little has changed in terms of civil justice, racial comfort, and equality. Rather than ponder the why’s of my mistakes and the path the country is holding onto, I would at least like the opportunity to choose.

Mastering anything was improbable during ‘then’ because the survival tools needed hadn’t been discovered. Unknown to me, what I needed led me to focus more on wants rather than needs, and for me, the desires outweighed the demands, which I quickly overcame.

Based on the notion of racial unrest, people tend to focus on easy answers rather than difficult because people’s wants tend to come as gifts and overindulgence.  For me, traveling a path of less or no resistance is not a challenge at all. Hence, rather than accepting mediocrity on any level, I chose to test my skill-sets and my will to think irrationally or beyond what the norm may be and find my resolves.

For anything irrational, that level of thinking must reach beyond the norm because a country that was once revered has shamelessly collapsed. After all, the introduction of a dictatorship has risen despite its constitutional mandates. For me, the Constitution needs to be re-written because the one we have for far too long was written by ingrates, slave owners, and hypocrites. Greed and hate have taken the breath out of this country, and what will follow is decimation on all levels.
