Science dictates that our subconscious mind controls 95% of our thinking capabilities. Based on this significant percentage, what happens with us cognitively is framed (much like a picture) and molds our beliefs and responses to everyday events. The disadvantage of this brain processing method would be the likelihood of never changing your belief system that you have grown to embrace. For example, our fight or flight brain process starts in our subconscious because that type of brain analysis requires more energy, and that’s when our subconscious mind takes over. We speak and act based on our beliefs, but sometimes those beliefs become dated until something new takes over. There must be a replacement of thought to interject change, a change that advances your thought progression.

On the other hand, our conscious mind navigates our creativity and accepts or rejects data; therefore, it can only entertain one idea at a time. It’s the direct act of thinking that engages the conscious mind because of the immediate access to thinking quickly. So, is one greater than the other? No, because each upholds the other much like the hip bones supporting the pelvis. Therefore, the conscious mind consists of everything inside of our awareness, but moreover, if you unlock the subconscious mind, allow it to perform as it should to maintain your identity.
