Diversity, Equity, Inclusion

Posted on 3 minute read

For all of my readers, let’s be clear on this discussion. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are the framework or principles focused on creating environments where people of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities are welcomed, valued, and treated fairly. If these words set the tone for a ‘playing field’ made for all, you are now sadly mistaken. Where diversity in the workplace was once unheard of, the government has now made it legal to initiate a hiring policy to exclude people of color or anyone considered different or opposing. It will no longer be a hiring practice where employers feel obligated by law to hire the unwanted, the underserved, or the less fortunate. This drastic policy change is racist and feels biased without equitable measure.Image result for diversity equity and inclusion

Furthermore, a workforce will be void of differences within a group, such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, physical ability, religion, and more. Therefore, your thinking must be reevaluated if these descriptions don’t offend you. Even more offensive is that opportunity is taken away despite your experience and education, leaving you with the forced acceptance of feeling inferior. There is no more significant concern than being non-essential—a living, breathing human being with an absolute omission of not existing.

In all instances, equity disappears, removing any form of fairness that will no longer ensure everyone has access to those opportunities, resources, and support based on need. Therefore, you will no longer feel valued or respected and have any sense of belonging in the environment for which you are seeking and deserve. There is now an avalanche of newly formed concepts, regulations, and policies introduced by the government and introduced as Project 2025, which relegates itself to targeting the poor, underprivileged, and people of color. All of this has been assigned to ‘making America great again and all for selfish reasons that appeal only to wealthy people.

So, what can be done now to protect us from a movement geared toward decimating fairness and inclusion? That answer is complex, and the thing we can do as individuals is to monitor what we do and how we go about doing that thing that keeps us sane. By all means, protect your mental well-being!

Thank you for keeping this significant topic a subject of discussion. Equal opportunities are imperative to the continued growth of our country, and the entire world. I feel that the current administration’s disregard for citizen’s wellbeing, livelihood and confidence will result in consequential loss for more than the targeted. Not only does crime rise and people go hungry. But discriminatory policies affect all when creative and clever human beings are left out! The world is made less than it should be. Then, both humanity and Earth suffer.
