Still Black

Posted on 2 minute read

I am still inferior to other races, even with my achievement background, particularly ‘amongst White Evangelicals.’ Their fight to stiffen the effects of ‘White Supremacy’ and rise victorious is the only concern they think about in this country of the most fortunate. However, this privilege of prosperity is meant for a few to allow the elite to parade around, flexing and spewing words of hatred and bias against people of color. What country, what president would stoop to this behavior other than the one person who resides on Pennsylvania Ave? The debacle taking place within the White House walls brings me pause because the more I’ve done with my life, the more I still don’t feel equal. As I have refused to submit to society’s misrepresentation to slander, blackball, and cutoff of any good advancement, I stand firm and willful by fighting back.

Be who you must, but just be you.

Held within my modest pursuit of success, the trappings of never becoming important enough because of my color had to take a back seat. What was more important was the journey I forged to complete that allowed me to embrace the truth of my integrity. Through all of this, I am still black and still proud. So hold onto who you are and never be twisted, forcing you to think otherwise.
