The Disconnect Between Black Men

Posted on 3 minute read

A troubling and confusing societal phenomenon is the lack of respect black men have for one another. For years, I have noticed the resentment and perhaps sheer disdain displayed towards other black men for no apparent reason where eye contact and a pleasant greeting cannot be met. Could it be this inbred brainwashing from slavery carried from one generation to another? Could it be the separation of status between having and not having? Are we still living in a world of being too dark or too light? Whatever the reason you place before your denial, know this exists around the country, and it’s destroying us.

To what end will unity become a priority?

All of the articles that appear on this site were written to incite a rise of troubling concern but aligned with healing alternatives. I left Facebook because the posts carry no healing message and no theme that embraces purpose or direction. As a race of black men, who can come together and support, we continually fall short of making that happen and becoming an integral part of society and our community. It’s no secret that our younger generations have no regard for human life and place little or no value on themselves to harbor any sense of pride or commitment. That generation may be lost, an era that I have little contact with, but those of us who have met a stage of maturity leaves much to be desired in their failed attempts to unify.

I propose an endeavor that I have started to bring black men together from all age groups and have this discussion. If a truthful reasoning platform can be staged, perhaps some of these questions can be answered, but it takes time. Rather than having this tug-of-war engagement and working against instead of for, gradual steps can minimize this destructive behavior.

As they are within the black race, problems have reached an all-time high. This resonating fact imposes further separation that leads to relentless bias. If the tendency covers other emotional trials, other races will continue to buy us for a dollar and offer empty promises. It’s time to change!
