The adage of the truth setting you free is a matter of interpretation and perception. The truth for all comes from the language and assertions of beliefs held within those who appreciate the depth of their own integrity. To tell the truth and nothing but the truth is an integral part of an oath spoken in a court of law that obligates you to stand in that light. Where this phrase is provided by many, few understand nor uphold its true meaning to disclose the facts as they are without prejudice or exaggeration. As I speak candidly about what truth should be, the exercise of honesty in its totality is discovering what matters to you on a much larger scale. This scale of discovery boils down to the personal levels of mental balance that allow the separation of truth over fiction. To utter the silent word, honesty falls into the hands of worthy subjects who can admit a cleansing of a self-absorbed ego that won’t allow a biased opinion that only warps your character. Before you can realize it, this false opinion of yourself quickly becomes who you are in the eyes of the world.
Where the real truth can be a complicated decision, admitting that you’re wrong is the issue. People do and say things that can be harmful but deny that the truth is malicious and requires work. Therefore, the truth’s enslavement becomes your personal barometer to integrate the facts that define your moral compass for all of the right reasons. The absence of truth alienates you. It can separate you from those you love where loving you back becomes suspect. If delving into what the truth means can be frightening towards those truths that even embarrass you in the privacy of your space. So, the enslavement of truth isn’t bad, yet it works like a pressure cooker that haunts you if ignored.
