The masquerade history dates back to the 16th Century Renaissance hailing out of Italy. In general, they were elaborate dances held for upper-class members. As the idea moves to a festive celebration in October, better known as Halloween, kids took over this celebratory activity as they dressed to image someone famous, and even some fictional character that, to a small degree, continues today. When crimes ensued and horrible deeds were engaged, some people saw fit to harm children with nasty pranks by placing razor blades into fruit and even poisoning candy.

When you lose your identity, you become this person of conflict and confusion. You have become someone you give more attention to than who you were born to be. Somewhere along your life journey, you lost your way, only seeking an escape from your reality. So, you run and hide, looking for that corner of seclusion or that crowd to blend in with, hoping that you’re not seen.
Escaping from your reality is a subconscious withdrawal counter-minding some learned belief. As you invest more into this facade or skewed opinion of yourself, the more damaging you become to yourself and those around you. This subconscious allure traps you into thinking that you have won when, in fact, you lose pieces of yourself every day. As your make-believe reaches the heights of no return, the person you once knew doesn’t exist. To love yourself is one of the greatest approaches to life that anyone can imagine because it lends itself to a level of self-esteem and a deepened sense of self-worth. These character embellishments are necessary for your survival and your sense of accomplishment.
