You Can’t Un-See; You Can’t Un-Do

Posted on 3 minute read

You cannot un-see what you have already seen, nor can you undo what’s already been done because the ‘uncle’ to this phrasing is trauma, where the reoccurrence of bad events never leaves you. So, what is the answer to this daunting mental phenomenon? Resilience! Focus! Discipline! All characteristics of a determined individual hell-bent on maintaining his rightful place in life. Reserving a place in this world is hard because there are so many distractions and distractors. More people than you would imagine don’t have your best interest at heart. People would rather tear you apart than help to fix what’s broken. Knowing this may not surprise some, but others know well what the true story tells. My story, your story, is all about interpretation, and those interpreters will, in all likelihood, create chaos and division.

Mixed emotions
Trauma remains, but it can become better.

The many people I have encountered over the years have taught me that the ‘wiring’ of the human mind is unique. This unique observation was my lesson plan to prepare me for what could be. To say that I was a quick study to figure all of this out couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, it was challenging! But I also learned that challenges could be a lifeline that keeps you attached and fundamentally secure. As I claim over fifty years of navigating my emotions, the reality fell upon my acceptance to honor my quest to remain afloat. As I still wrestle with failed attempts to totally heal, I have managed to authentically transform these negative behavior patterns by locating viable alternatives that help suppress these ill-fated ideals that loom within my subconscious. I know all too well that I can become my worst enemy. A companion that I refuse to get comfortable with or shake hands pretending that it’s alright. This kind of pretense is only a mask hiding who you really are underneath.

All I have written will invariably be your place of entry to my readers now or later. As you enter these corridors of steel walls, concrete floors, and dusty closets, know for sure that life goes on, but try to stay in the game as long as you can. In this game of life, warming the bench will not enable scoring points or making touchdowns. Assure yourself that possibilities and opportunities are infinite.
