As I carefully carry this notion, I will begin by saying that many black athletes have their own living agendas based on individual needs. But, unfortunately, the ‘kneel don’t kneel’ movement that caused so much diversion led people to believe that the right to express patronage and stand up to the racial divide of historic proportions took the breath away from blacks on every visible platform It is a disgrace to deny a race of people and force them to turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to justice Despite the huge salaries, athletes take these salaries but pay a higher price as they remove their ability to maintain their beliefs and, quite frankly, think independently Now, this subject is a slippery slope because many of these athletes come from poor background. As the money is thrown their way, it’s put up or shut up. As one sports analyst put it, “just dribble the ball.”
On every issue of human rights, blacks continually fall short of equal parity. The white dominance that everyone is aware of continues to show its ugly head and takes away any pride in being black. To prevent achievement by stealing or killing to maintain the status quo speaks louder to a race of people who appear to be afraid of black excellence.
The psychology of radical racism is to divide, set against, and create chaos. Pitching separatism by depriving a race of equal and just opportunity has been the killing block for the black masses. Having to fight this malicious behavior on the side of whites brings a rise in defense and aggressive activism.
In a country of wealth and unmeasurable opportunity, no one should suffer the embarrassment of poverty and neglect. Yet, as these past and current heroes fought their battles of discrimination and hatred, their societal rise is archived and exalted. These were men and women who took the gauntlet, bringing attention to their plight and their refusal to sit down and stay back. The pride I feel in reading about and seeing these athletes during my lifetime is an honor and a priority that makes my life worth something without apology. If we can’t learn from our history and the examples set by so many, what becomes our purpose?
As we examine ourselves to determine our rightful place, it should no longer be a plea of desperation, but rather a plea to refuse the answer of NO. These team owners assume the roles of modern-day enslavers while laying down the law of black submissiveness. If this expectation of submission is not met, specific penalties are enacted to enforce compliance. It is no secret that black athletes and black people, in general, are the only race that suffers the indignity of the loss of free will. Instead, blacks are criticized and scorned for being patriotic and forthright, and simply living their culture. The display of black pride on any stage threatens the comfort levels for these owners as they crack the whips of superiority.
While earning millions, these black money winners have no voice to be heard to act out against suppression and oppression for the greater good. The acts of blacks to bring about pride and recognition to a cause of demanding equal rights continues to be the elephant in the room or the albatross worn around the necks of so many. Therefore, justice is still not fair, nor will it become an acceptance of what is right and long overdue. To thine own self be true is a mere figment of the imagination held by blacks.
