Many people don’t know the difference between Veterans Day and Memorial Day. To be clear, Veterans Day is a celebration of all who served in the military, and Memorial Day is the remembrance of all soldiers who died. On this Veterans Day, I say with pride that it was an honor to serve my country no matter its cause. As many others were called, I was called, and we did our best to uphold America’s integrity. Armed with no real information, many were sent off to fight for our country. The call, though frightening, served me well and taught me what courage truly meant. Through it all, and fifty plus years later, I stand, as we all stand, saluting, but never forgetting the anguish, the hurt, pain, and suffering the war brought to our doorsteps.
