fathers and children
To be the best, one must try.

A commemorative wish for all father’s both living physically and in spirit. Having lost my father nearly two years ago became a defining moment for me. I have realized all too well how short life is and how time means so much. To carry a heavy heart is not my embrace but rather a lifetime of reflection on the now of my presence. Having children of my own, I realize even more how time gets away from you, and before you know it, they are grown with children of their own.

Like many of us who are fathers having that same privilege is special. Remembering how it was growing up carrying a pride of belonging was an honor. The satisfaction that I brought boosted each day of my life and captured the essence of what being proud meant. As I move into my seventies, the enrichment of entering another milestone is captivating. This captivation, this enlightenment, is an awakening that symbolizes what being a role model and mentor represents. As I mingle in varied environments, I see pride, and I see regret. I see people wishing for a father figure having missed out on that opportunity. To be a father is easy, but being a responsible father is applauding.
